What a great June! Starting with President Obama’s Presidential Proclamation “NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, byvirtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2014 as Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.” That is amazing. We have come such a long way from 1970 and the Stonewall riots. At that time, no one would have imagined the president of the United States would make such a declaration. And today’s Pride celebrations would not exist.
The DGLCC was a proud sponsor of this year’s PrideFest. It was one of the largest PrideFest events to date. Thanks to everyone who helped with the booth this year. We were able to reach more than 200 business people and provide information about our chamber. That is great.
Last, but certainly not least, the decision of the 10th Circuit Court to uphold the federal judge’s ruling that Utah’s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional is just another step toward equality. Colorado is in the 10th Circuit Court – so we are just one step (maybe even two steps!) closer to Same Sex Marriage!
Let’s keep working together in and out of the chamber, letting people know we are here and we are open for business.
Have a great and productive July.
